FAQ
Answers about Status Ops Cloud (the live product), trial, billing, and what’s still planned for self-host.
Getting started
What is Status Ops?
Status Ops Cloud is a hosted operations status dashboard. It monitors servers, hosting, streams, networks, computers, models, and more — with a unified dashboard, a flexible status API for agents and scripts, Telegram alerts today (more channels planned), Triggers available in Settings, and team administration.
Can I try it first?
Yes. View sample opens a frozen demo session with sample entities — changes stay in that session only. Open app is your real Cloud organization (login + access required; data persists). Self-host packages are not for sale yet. See Documentation.
What’s different between View sample and Open app?
| View sample | Frozen demo session — sample entities, not your organization |
|---|---|
| Open app (Cloud) | Your multi-tenant org — login, trial/paid access, persistent data |
| Self-host | Not for sale yet |
Sample and Cloud app are separate; sample never writes into your real organization.
What do I need for Cloud?
A modern browser and a free LyraDisplay account. Nothing to install for Cloud production. Optional agents or scripts that can POST to the status API. Self-host stack requirements only apply when packages ship later.
Cloud access & admin
Who runs the infrastructure on Cloud?
LyraDisplay runs Status Ops Cloud for you. You manage entities, agents, and Settings. Self-host (you run the stack) is planned later and not for sale yet.
Can I customize branding?
Yes. Admins set your organization / instance name and logo in Settings. The About section shows your deployment and links to documentation, FAQ, and support.
Can viewers self-register?
Optional. Admins enable Allow public account registration in Settings. New self-registered accounts join the Regular (view-only) group. The first registered user becomes Admin when no accounts exist yet.
What is IP bypass?
On future self-host installs, optional view-only access by office IP can be configured for wall displays. On Status Ops Cloud today, use Viewer roles and LyraDisplay login for access control.
What user roles are available?
Admin users manage entities, users, groups, and settings. Viewer users see the dashboard and their own My Account page. Role badges appear in the header; admins also get the Menu for Settings, Entities, Users, and Groups.
What is Glance view?
Glance is a compact dashboard layout — a denser, marketing-style status board with enabled entities, type badges, and relative last-push times. Toggle it from the header; your preference is remembered in the browser. It refreshes live alongside the full dashboard.
How do agents report status?
Agents and scripts report status via API — POST JSON with entity ID, status, metrics, and notes. The API is flexible and easy to use from cron jobs, CI, or custom code. The package includes shell and PowerShell scripts, but your organization can use its own binaries, executables, or tooling instead. See Documentation and agent scripts.
Do I have to use the included agent scripts?
No. Included scripts are a starting point for common server, hosting, stream, and network checks. You can push from anything that can make HTTP requests — your own scripts, compiled binaries, orchestration jobs, or existing monitoring tools adapted to the API.
Licensing & updates
Is self-hosting free?
Self-hosted packages are not for sale yet. Use Status Ops Cloud today (free trial, then paid organization access). See Pricing for cloud plan amounts only.
What counts as a major version?
Self-host major upgrades will be defined when packages ship. Today, use Status Ops Cloud — updates are included while you are subscribed. See Pricing.
Where do I download updates?
Downloads will return when licensing is implemented in the app and a new package is released. Check Download for the latest status.
Custom entity types
Can you build custom entity types for my use case?
Yes. If built-in types (server, hosting, stream, network, computer, etc.) are not enough, we can develop custom entities tailored to how you monitor. Lyra Cloud: Custom entities included based on demand and team availability — When included capacity is unavailable, custom work is quoted and charged as a commission — per request, per customer, same as self-hosted. Self-hosted: Custom entity development available on commission — pricing quoted per request, per customer. See Pricing or contact us with your requirements.
How is custom entity pricing determined?
Cloud: Custom entities included based on demand and team availability — When included capacity is unavailable, custom work is quoted and charged as a commission — per request, per customer, same as self-hosted. Self-hosted: Custom work is commissioned separately from your license — we quote per request, per customer based on scope and complexity. There is no fixed global price for bespoke entities on either track.
Notifications
How can I receive alerts?
Telegram today — configure bot token and chat ID in Settings. Automated messages cover outages, network IP changes, and uptime drops. Email, Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, webhooks, and more are planned. More managed alert channels may expand on Cloud over time. For automation beyond alerts, see Triggers in Settings.
Which chat apps are supported?
Telegram is supported today. Slack, Discord, Microsoft Teams, Google Chat, and Mattermost and similar channels are on the roadmap — see Settings and release notes for what is live on your version.
Triggers
What are triggers?
Triggers are separate from notifications. When entity status changes, a trigger can perform an action against your Ops instance or connected systems — HTTP calls, fetches, pushes, or pulls — for automation, ticketing, runbooks, or downstream tooling. Your organization defines what fires and where it points.
How are triggers different from alerts?
Alerts notify people (email, Telegram, chat, webhooks to humans). Triggers automate actions on status transitions — they complement alerts rather than replace them. You might alert the on-call team and trigger a remediation script when a host goes down.
What can triggers do today?
Metric triggers are available in Settings → Triggers on the cloud app. Define thresholds on metrics to add notes and surface alerts. Broader automation (HTTP actions on status changes) may expand later.
Hosted & multi-org
Do you offer managed hosting?
Will there be multi-tenant / multi-org support?
Yes. Status Ops Cloud is multi-tenant: each LyraDisplay organization has its own isolated workspace. You sign in with one account across Lyra products.
Support
How do I get help?
Use our contact form on lyradisplay.com. Also check Documentation and the in-app Settings / API guides.
Is there an API?
Yes.
api.php handles agent push traffic and dashboard read endpoints. Entity management from the admin UI uses a separate session-protected admin_api.php. Details are in the in-app API guide and on the Documentation page. What other products does LyraDisplay offer?
Color Scope is a browser-based video color analysis tool. Projector is a cloud presentation dashboard for lyrics, Bible verses, and live events. Status Ops Cloud is the live hosted operations status dashboard (self-host packages not for sale yet).
